In my last blog post about Living in Yellow, we were just days away from our first “work trip” to meet Erin at the launch of her first collaboration with Gibson Look, which you can find at Nordstrom. If you missed that post you can read it HERE. That “work trip” did not disappoint! We had a great time meeting her, purchasing items from her new line, taking lots of dressing room selfies, and checking out the city of Chicago! But little did we know the best part of that trip was still to come!
We returned home and jumped right back in to our normal mom life…making food, taking care of kids, cleaning the house, running everyone, everywhere. That Tuesday evening I was grabbing my daughter from dance class when Julie sent me a text, wondering if I had noticed who had commented on our picture? Erin, from her personal account, was asking if it would be o.k. if they shared this picture on the LIY facebook page.
We of course responded with an enthusiastic, YES! Then I called Julie immediately and remember saying, Is This really happening? But we still really didn’t want to get too excited. They had been sharing individuals wearing her new clothing line and we just assumed that’s what would happen, but we were still pretty excited to know that she had even seen our picture. The next 12 hours were spent with Julie and I both stalking her page, impatiently waiting for a glimpse of ourselves. The round-up of people wearing her outfits went up that morning and we weren’t included. A little while later as I was running out the door to get my son to an ENT appointment and Julie had all 3 kids in the car heading to an appointment, our phones started going crazy and this happened….
She not only shared our picture, but gave us a shout out! I think we both spent the day on cloud 1,000. That day we gained over 600 followers!! It’s a day I will never forget. She will never know how much her kind post meant to us. Throughout this last year we have had many good times, a few bad times, and so many times of self-doubt. I think this journey has been way harder than either one of us ever imagined. We are constantly asking ourselves, what are we doing wrong, how come we aren’t growing faster, where has everyone gone, etc. Her post occurred at one of those tough times and kept us going when we may have otherwise given up.
Erin has gone on to collaborate with the brand Gibson 3 more times. She launched another line with them in late Spring that brought us some amazing pieces.
She has a glamour collaboration for the Holidays with Gibson and a few other bloggers, coming out in the next few weeks. This Monday, her 3rd Launch with Gibson goes live and we will be bringing you all our favorites, right after we fill our carts and check out! LOL
We could not have picked a better person to follow on this journey, she continues to inspire us to dream and keep laughing through all the rough times!
