The 4th of July is quickly approaching, and has to be one of our favorite holidays of the year! We always spend some time around the 4th at my parents lake house with the whole family, something we look forward to all year long! If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that Julie and I are the “dip” girls. Whenever there is a family function, we are always asked to bring some “dips”. You can find a post with some of our favorite dip recipes here. https://sistersthatshop.com/2017/11/29/when-i-dip-you-dip-we-dip/
My kiddos are totally in to cooking/creating in the kitchen so I thought it would be fun to whip up some 4th of July themed snacks! We took a “taco dip” recipe that has been in our family for years and created an American Flag. (You may need to use your imagination a bit here, a rectangular pan would have been a much better option) LOL
Taco Dip
Ingredients:
1 lb. burger cooked
1 cup of sour cream
1 small container of cream cheese
1 envelope taco seasoning.
shredded lettuce
shredded cheese
Optional: tomatoes/olives, etc.
Directions:
Mix sour cream, cream cheese, and 1/2 envelope of taco seasoning together. Spread on bottom of 9X13 pan. Spread hamburger on top of that , then lettuce and flag ingredients.
Next we tackled a Dessert Pizza-so good!
Ingredients:
2pkg. refrigerated sliceable sugar cookies, sliced
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Toppings of your choice: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries.
Directions:
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. Slice dough and arrange on bottom of cookie sheet, pinch slices together. Bake for 14 min. or until edges are slightly brown, cool completely.
Beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla together and spread on crust.
Top with Berries and refrigerate at least two hours.
It wouldn’t be the 4th of July without watermelon and I had a brand new gadget I was so excited to try! It did not disappoint, it made cutting this watermelon a breeze! (commissioned link)
