We just got back from our annual camping trip with my husband’s family. My husband is one of 10 kids and for the last 10 or so July’s we have been getting together for a long weekend of camping.
We had a little bit of a smaller group this year, but it is still a lot of people and oh so fun! We have definitely learned a few things along the way that help to make the trip a little more enjoyable and relaxing for everyone.

Tip #1. Have each family responsible for a meal. We start with breakfast on Thursday and have each family sign up for Breakfast or Dinner for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. ( We do lunch on our own..usually just sandwiches, snacks, etc. ) It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, everyone is just really excited they didn’t have to cook. LOL Meal preparing is made even easier with one of these. we usually have 3-4 at camp and lots of crock pot liners!
Tip #2. We have totes filled with “community items”. Plates, napkins, cups, silverware, etc. We also put in money a few years ago and purchased a large tent. We combine all the picnic tables along with the totes of items and set up a little “base camp”. This is where we eat, play games, etc. Included in this, our favorite roasting sticks!
Tip #3. We love to spend time at the beach and boating, but some days the kids just need a break. We make sure to have lots of games, coloring activities, and this tether ball game, that they all love, set up and ready to go.
Tip #4, The weather can be crummy, your kids can be all sorts of crazy, but try to keep a positive attitude and enjoy the slower pace of life for a few days!
How many of you are campers? What are your favorite tips and tricks for camping? I’d love to hear them.
Thanks, Trisha
