and I are traveling later this week to Chicago! Our first “work trip” and we could not be more excited!! We plan to try on lots of clothes, bring you lots of dressing room pics, and shop til we drop! The main reason though for this little adventure…to meet the person that is probably, ok the reason, that the idea for Sisters that Shop was born! Now before I tell you about her, you have to promise that you aren’t going to leave us for her. Promise, ok? Here’s where the story begins…
I think it was right around this time last year that I noticed a few friends on Facebook following a page, Living In 
Yellow. I “liked” her and I began to look forward to her posts everyday where she would share her outfit and any clothing deals. She also introduced me to Nordstrom. To be honest, I would have never thought I could afford any items there but as I followed her posts, I realized they do have affordable clothing and the free shipping/free returns idea is amazing! I was hooked. Somewhere along the way I told Julie about her and she started following her too. We started “liking” other pages that do this similar thing and often times our conversations when together would revolve around what these people were posting and what we like/disliked. Erin, of Living in Yellow has always remained our favorite…she has a great way of keeping life “real” and is so “down to earth”. In these first few months of starting Sisters that Shop we have reminded ourselves often that she has been doing this for over 6 years (she now has 300,000 fans) and still talks about how hard it all is to balance everything and to continually question everything that you are doing .
Fast forward to this week when Erin from Living in Yellow has collaborated with the “Gibson” brand available at Nordstrom, to develop her own clothing line, Gibson X Living in Yellow and it launches this Thursday, March 8th at Nordstrom online. A few weeks ago, I was with my daughters at a dance convention when Erin announced that they would be having a launch party at Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue in Chicago the evening of March 8th with the new line. I immediately texted my sister and said “we’re going” and…she didn’t reply. LOL So I texted her again and said ” I’m serious” it was then she responded with a “what are we going to do with our kids”, I responded “we’ll figure it out”. Long story short…we did… our amazing husbands are holding down the fort and our awesome mom is on deck if they need her!
And we….are off to Chicago! Some people get excited to meet authors, musicians, sports players, I could not be more excited to meet Erin from Living In Yellow. Someone who planted an idea and along with a gentle nudge from my sister, we are now on an amazing adventure that I would not have imagined for myself in a million years. An adventure that has brought purpose, fun, lots of shopping, and the greatest gift of all, a closer relationship with my sister than I could have ever imagined in my life! She makes a pretty great boss!
