Have you ever wondered what to do with that “loft” space on your second floor?! When we moved in we were pretty clueless what we wanted to do with this space. Do we turn it into a play room? A TV room for the kids? A reading place?!
In the end it became a place to dumb all the “creative toys” and honestly was a mess. Fast forward to the end of March when my son was doing school from home I thought of an idea. I really had been thinking of turning this loft into a homework room but with my oldest being a kindergartner I figured we had time. Well that idea got quickly moved to the top of the list!
So here’s what we did. I ordered these countertops from Ikea. I grabbed 3 since I have three kids. Yes, only two are pictured right now. My youngest is still a little too little and since this is a “loft” I didn’t want him to have access to climbing over ledges. He’s a little adventurous. We plan on adding the third when he gets older.
We hung them using heavy duty brackets from Lowe’s so that they would look like they were floating. Also did I mention these counter tops were only $9 a piece!!!!! Mind blown.
We have a half wall on the other side and of course no room I currently re-do can NOT have peel and stick wallpaper so I had to hang it there! I then added some more of the shelves (a/k/a spice racks I spray painted) and there fun animal stuffed chair.
I also had to add this cute decal!
My kids absolutely adore this space! They use it so much more than they did when just random toys were thrown up here! It also love that it was so budget friendly! Let me know if you have any questions!
