Our Master Bath Remodel

This was a doozy of a remodel for us! What started as just new flooring and cabinet painting, turned into wallpaper, trim being painted, new trim for the windows, blinds being painted, new hardware and new faucets. 😅 Even though it took longer than we thought it would I am so HAPPY we made the decision to make all the changes we did.

Just a little background, after buying and selling a house every two years (this is our 4th in 7 years) we finally found what we think is our forever home. It has the perfect layout and space for our family, just needs a little updating. So room by room we having started remodeling. You can find our laundry room remodel here and our half bath remodel here. Next on the list was our master bathroom.

Not awful, just not really our style. I had seen so many people used the peel and stick floor tiles and I thought they would be perfect in our bathroom.

AFTER:

So many big changes but I think they flooring and the back wall take the cake. Flooring was peel and stick floor tiles.

I used 6 1/2 boxes and at the time I purchased they were on rollback for just $5 a box…so yes under $35 for the WHOLE FLOOR. 😮 I did it myself in a morning and thought it was pretty easy. They are holding up great as well and super easy to clean.

To be honest this peel and stick wallpaper was a compromise for me. I wanted something to soften the black and white floor and thought a wood plank wall would be perfect. My husband on the other hand did not want to put 1000 nail holes into our wall since we might expand our shower one day. I compromised and used the wallpaper for the look I wanted. Again, I hung this by myself in a couple hours and love it. I was worried about the humidity from the shower but so far it’s stuck great!

Next biggest change was the cabinets. I used my trusty paint that I swear by and had them tint it to Sherwin Williams Pure White.

Next up was the window. I really didn’t want to paint it so I had my husband install this new trim. No mitering, and it was only $15!! Way better than painting!! I also SPRAY PAINTED the blinds. Only cost $8!!

Rust-Oleum 327951-6 PK American Accents Spray Paint, Semi-Gloss White (for the blinds)
White Urethane Alkyd Semi-Gloss Enamel Interior/Exterior Paint (for the trim)

I was looking for other ways to cut costs (always!, I mean I PAINTED the blinds!) and so I used my old trick of just spray painting the light fixtures. It is such a quick and easy fix and looks AMAZING!

Rust-Oleum 249127 Painter’s Touch Multi Purpose Spray Paint, 12-Ounce, Flat Black
Two Handle Bathroom Sink Faucet with Pop up Drain

Last but not least we painted all the door and base boards. This was NOT in the original plan but when I laid the floor down we both knew it needed to be done. I used the same paint as on the cabinets. The one difference is I did prime them FIRST. It ended up being 3 coats of primer and 2 paints. YES, 5 coats total. It was a lot. But worth it in the end.
